You will gain specialist skills in ceramics, designing and making through our non-accredited courses.
You will design and make ceramic pieces through various techniques and processes such as:
- slip casting
- glaze formulation and application
- decorating techniques
Some experience of ceramics and pottery would be beneficial, but not essential, because you work at your own pace and level. You can work at your own pace with your own designs, under guidance from your tutor.
You will develop new skills and explore different making and decorating techniques suitable for both beginners and more experienced potters alike. More advanced students will be encouraged to develop their own ideas through personal tutorials with the tutor.
Our programmes are practical and workshop-based, with group and individual demonstrations of a variety of techniques. You will work at an appropriate pace with your tutor's guidance. Equipment needed for this course is available in our established and fully-equipped ceramics workshop, and specialist suppliers of materials will be issued by the tutor should this be required.
You will have access to large capacity kilns and slab rollers. Make sure to wear old clothes and bring an overall, as working with clay can get messy!
