Sakeenah Muhammad, 18, had never played a musical instrument before choosing the music pathway at Reading College. She now sings, plays piano and guitar and is in a band with her classmates.
Sakeenah admits that choosing to study music was “a quick decision”, but says that she is now enjoying learning about “production, performance and music theory.”
Being at Reading College has also helped Sakeenah to improve her communication skills, make new friends and work on her confidence.
Sakeenah adds that “The teachers are really nice. They can have a joke with us as well as helping us with our course.”
Asked about her plans for the future, Sakeenah says that she hopes to continue with her current bandmates who play in ‘Funeral for a Manikin’.
