We are contacting you directly because our review shows that your personal mobile phone number and /or email address were among the data captured in the recent breach affecting Instructure, our Canvas/ALO supplier. We are very sorry that this has happened.
This does not automatically mean that your phone, email or college account has been accessed. It does mean, however, that you are at a higher risk of scam texts, phone calls, social-media messages and sign-in scams that may pretend to be from Activate Learning, Canvas, IT, student support, a tutor or another trusted organisation.
Please take care to avoid being hacked
Please be extra cautious from now on, especially if a message refers to coursework, deadlines, access issues, urgent account problems or a security warning.
- Do not click links in unexpected texts
- Do not share a one-time code or password with anyone
- Do not approve a sign-in request unless you are genuinely signing in yourself at that moment
If you receive a suspicious text or email, notify us through Activate Learning’s Data Protection Officer.
If you think you may already have shared personal information, clicked a suspicious link, approved a sign-in request or lost money, please contact Activate Learning’s Data Protection Officer straight away.
If you are ever unsure whether a message is genuinely from us, do not reply using the details in that message.
Instead, contact Activate Learning through the main contact centre or use the contact details on our website.
Kind regards,
Activate Learning
