Beauty Therapy students from Bracknell and Wokingham College raised £220 for Bracknell Foodbank by recently holding a Christmas pamper day.

Customers could choose to have either a facial or a massage and money raised from the treatments was used to buy food to go into the parcels.
Students then packaged up their parcels before dropping them off at Bracknell Foodbank, located in the Kerith Community Church on Church Road.

Maddie Sharpe, 18, from Wokingham, is studying Beauty Therapy Level 3 Diploma at Bracknell and Wokingham College.
“I felt quite helpful to be involved in the pamper day for Bracknell Foodbank. I was quite impressed by how much we raised,” said Maddie.
“We made all the parcels look nice. I felt proud of all of us. It felt good putting all the work in, and it felt rewarding to make up the parcels and give them to people who need it.”
Bracknell Foodbank is part of a national network of foodbanks, giving out nutritionally balanced emergency food to people in crisis who have nowhere else to turn. The parcels provided will go to households in need over the Christmas period.

Hilary White, a Beauty Therapy teacher at Activate Learning, said: “The students’ passion for helping others really shone through when they were selecting what to put in the parcels.
“They thought about all family members and wanted to add special treats as well as essential items.
“They enjoyed all aspects of the project, from planning and decorating the salon to delivering the parcels to the Kerith Centre. I feel really proud of them.”

Bracknell Foodbank Manager Claire Mather said: “We were so grateful to the Beauty Therapy Level 3 students at Bracknell and Wokingham College for holding a Christmas Pamper Day to raise money for parcels to give to us at Bracknell Foodbank.
“It’s a joy to see people in our community getting involved and using their skills and talents to find different ways to support those struggling in our local community, particularly at Christmas time.”
