Student Support Assistants provide one-to-one or small group support to students with additional needs, both in and out of the classroom. This can include help with learning activities, mobility support, communication assistance, or managing behaviour, depending on each student’s individual needs.

Typically you do not need specific qualifications, however, GSCE or equivalent in Maths and English are a requirement. We do offer Access to Learning Support Essentials course  

No, although some areas within the college may require you to have some relatable experience working with vulnerable people or children with SEN.  

We have a variety of working hours available, from Full time (35 hours per week) to part time (working a minimum of 3 full days/or 21 hours per week)

All of our Student Support Assistant roles are term time only (44 weeks per year) We have a proportion of fixed term contract (duration of the academic year) and permanent contract too 

All of our staff have to complete the mandatory training course, which include, Safeguarding & Prevent and you will be required to complete additional training relevant to your job role, such as medication, manual handling etc.

It depends. Some student support assistants are assigned to support specific learners on a regular basis, while others work more flexibly across different classes and students depending on daily needs.
