Free lecture on the latest electric car industry developments at Bracknell and Wokingham College

07 March 2019

The benefits of electric vehicles (EV) to industry, the environment and car owners will be discussed at this year’s free IET Bracknell Easter Lecture at Bracknell and Wokingham College on Wednesday 10 April at 7.00pm for 7.30pm

Sir John Samuel Bt. CEng, MIMechE - Director, Synergy Management Services, is the industry expert who will speak on ‘The Exciting Road to Electric Cars.’

The event is open to all and offers everyone a chance to get updated on this important topic. In addition, it is an excellent opportunity for local engineering and energy businesses to network and to meet students who are potential future employees

Activate Learning is keen to promote STEAM (science, technology, English, arts and mathematics) careers to new and existing learners to help address a growing skills gap that is affecting many local industry sectors. Events like this demonstrate how businesses can engage with education to develop future talent.

Car enthusiasts can also learn about the future of electric vehicles, including UK-based advanced EV developments like the Jaguar i-Pace, a battery-electric SUV that has just won the 2019 Car of the Year Award.

The lecture will include some thought-provoking ideas on how the industry should tackle current challenges like energy storage, renewable power generation and rechargability, and there is the opportunity to quiz Sir John and tap into his extensive electric car knowledge.

Alex Warner, Activate Learning’s Director of Faculty: Technology said: “We’re delighted to be able to continue the Bracknell Easter Lecture tradition now that Bracknell and Wokingham College is part of our leading education group, Activate Learning.

“The talk will appeal to anyone with an interest in engineering, science, energy and the environment, and we are very excited to welcome Sir John to our newest campus, and to cooperate with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (the IET) in presenting this important lecture.”
