Apprentices from City of Oxford College's prestigious Rycotewood Furniture Centre are celebrating academic success this year.
As a trailblazer centre for the new Furniture Manufacture Level 2 apprenticeship programme, Rycotewood’s latest cohort has succeeded expectations in their apprenticeships.
Three apprentices achieved triple distinctions, working alongside companies such as Benchmark Furniture, Silverlining Furniture and Kaizen Furniture.
As well as the three high achieving apprentices, in total, five apprentices achieved an overall distinction grade, including apprentices from Bill Cleyndert and Heartwood Furniture.
The entire class passed all tests and observations. They will progress onto the IFATE Level 3 Bespoke Furniture Manufacturer Apprenticeship in autumn 2019.
Chris Hyde, Director of Curriculum for Creative Industries at Activate Learning said: “It was new ground for all of us, but these apprentices stepped up to the mark. They are the next generation for the industry and I'm extremely proud to have coached them and worked with their employers.
“I'd also like to thank the awarding body, Occupational Awards, for their support and the professionalism of the assessors."
