Masterclass with industry experts results in a unique opportunity for music learners

Two top music executives who have worked with the likes of Take That, Dizzy Rascal, Tinie Tempah and Simon Cowell visited Reading College to share their industry expertise with Reading and Oxford music learners.

24 January 2019

John Saunderson from Notting Hill Music Publishing and Steve Long from 18th Floor Recordings presented their work and spoke to learners about how music publishing, management and record labels operate in the real world.

They gave tips on how to write a hit and discussed the personal attributes needed to succeed in such a competitive industry. John and Steve were also very happy to give feedback on students’ work alongside tutors Mike Bandoni and Lawrence Hill.

John has offered Activate Learning music students a unique opportunity to hone their writing skills. Notting Hill Music will distribute composition briefs for learners to follow so they can submit their own songs. By following these professional briefs, students get real-life industry experience as well as gaining the chance of a signing.

This remarkable opportunity once again shows Activate Learning’s strong commitment to developing business partnerships that kick-start successful careers.
