09 November 2018

Activate Learning students raised £175 for Breast Cancer Awareness by putting the practical skills and theory learnt with us to good use in a local pamper session.

Students from Reading College’s Beauty Therapy Level 1 programme enjoyed a day performing a variety of hand care treatments on 35 members of SSE Energy staff as part of one of their course units.

Treatments included nail painting, filing and hand massages

Treatments included nail painting, filing and hand massages, with a mix of pre-booked and walk in sessions.

Beauty Therapy course leader, Liz Anderson, said: “The event went really well. I have been going to SSE Energy for the past six years to raise money for charity and this year the students excelled tthemselves.

“They were all professional and made a good impression. The level of treatments on the day were fantastic.

The experience put all Activate Learning’s attributes to good use including professionalism, confidence, enterprise, resilience and awareness.

Students were motivated and positive throughout the day. This pamper session aimed to improve the student's confidence in working with the general public.
