Bracknell and Wokingham College would like to congratulate the 17 students who completed their T Levels qualifications today.
In September 2022, Activate Learning became one of the first providers to offer the brand-new T Levels qualification in Bracknell. Bracknell and Wokingham College started offering two T Levels pathways in September 2022, in Business: Management and Administration, and Health: Adult Nursing.
This week, the college celebrates their second cohort of T Levels students completing their second year.
The college on Church Road also offers a T Level Foundation course in Health and Social Care.
The college’s T Level Business: Management and Administration T Level subjects obtained a 100% pass rate, for the second year running. Health T Level students achieved a 100% pass rate, for the second year in a row.
Jess Lambden, 18, from Reading, was one of the college’s top performers, achieving a Distinction grade for her T Level in Business: Management and Administration. While studying, she did a placement in the Finance department at John Lewis Partnership.
Since finishing her course, she has begun working full-time as a Process Administrator in the Invoice Progressing and Administration team in the Finance department at John Lewis Partnership.
Jess said: “I’m very, very happy! I’m very glad that the hard work paid off.
“I really liked the flexibility of the T Level in comparison to the average route of A Levels and then onto university. I wanted to gain some experience in the workplace to see what I was getting myself into and the T Level provided me with those skills that I need to boost my career. It’s really helped me, so I’m really glad I chose this path.
“The placement at John Lewis Partnership helped me to understand what the expectations are to be in an office and a professional environment. It was good to see the link between the work I was doing in the classroom compared to how it plays out in the office.
“I gained a lot of soft and hard skills for my CV including computer literacy and my presentation skills, confidence and professional etiquette have improved.
“I’ve been lucky enough to be offered a job in John Lewis Partnership in the finance head office which I started about two months ago and it’s going really well so far. My plan is to enrich my CV and experience further opportunities in John Lewis. It’s a really great place to work and start my career.
“The teams are all lovely and John Lewis really take care of their staff. There’s so many opportunities and experiences you can involve yourself in when you work at John Lewis, such as apprenticeships and other course. I see myself working here for a long time. ”
Jarod Smith, 20, from Bracknell, achieved a Distinction grade in T Level Business: Management and Administration. While studying, he did a placement in the Finance department at John Lewis Partnership.
Since finishing his course, he has begun working full-time as a Process Administrator in the cash management team in the Finance department at John Lewis Partnership.
Jarod said: “I’m very chuffed. I studied hard so I’m really happy with what I got.
“I chose to study a T Level because the work experience aspect drew me in. A lot of other courses don’t offer that. I thought it was a good way to get my foot in the door to see what the working world is like.
“It was nice break to go to John Lewis Partnership during the week. It was nice to be able to take what we’ve learnt at college and apply it in our work placement. The main thing it has done for me is helped me to mature and grow in professionalism.
“My job at the John Lewis Partnership is going really well. It’s a massive learning curve, a lot different to college. It’s a nice change. I’m settling in really well. Everyone has been really helpful, helping me to understand what I have to do and answering all the questions I have.”
Keith Rosser, Contract Manager at the John Lewis Partnership said: “It’s been fabulous to have the T Level students working at the John Lewis Partnership. This is the second cohort, and they bring their youthfulness and energy. They help us to understand the young professionals of tomorrow and four of them are now working for us.
“They’ve come in and got experience. Employers see that and are willing to take the risk. The students bring their skills, they’re not afraid, they embrace it and that’s excellent!”
Neil Brookes, Executive Director Faculties and Colleges (North) at Activate Learning, said: “Congratulations to all students collecting their excellent T Levels results today!
“Our students have worked hard with our employer partners in the Early Years, Engineering, Health and Care, and Digital sectors over the past two years to achieve these results.
“Alongside their classroom-based studies, students have had the opportunity to experience their chosen sector first hand, which has helped them to gain new skills and apply their learning in real-world settings.
“This, in turn with their excellent results, will help them to stand out and progress onto their next steps whether that’s further study at college or university, pursuing an apprenticeship or progressing into employment.
“Whichever route they’ve chosen, I would like to wish them all the best of luck for the future and we look forward to hearing about all their successes and inviting them back to inspire current students as an alumnus of Activate Learning.
“Thank you to our employer partners too, who have played a significant role in supporting students to achieve these fantastic outcomes.”
Graduating students are invited to join the Activate Learning Alumni network, which celebrates and recognises the achievements of former students and apprentices.
