This course has been developed by engineering sectors to give full-time learners the opportunity to enter employment or to progress to higher level engineering qualifications.

For those aspiring to become professional engineers, supervisors or managers, this programme has been developed to give learners the skills and expertise needed to enter employment in the mechanical/electrical engineering sector or to progress to higher education.

This programme will enable you to develop your knowledge of engineering materials, design and processes, graphical communication including CAD, and electrical and electronic principles.

What I'll learn

You will study core units covering engineering working practices, using engineering information, maths for technicians, and electrical and mechanical science for engineering purposes. You also have the chance to specialise in additional areas and develop your English, maths and ICT skills, which are essential for successful performance in working life.

BTEC Level 2 Diploma is equivalent to four GCSEs at Grades A*-C and will help you explore a range of careers within the engineering industry.

 

 

How I'll learn

Your learning will involve a combination of theory and principles with hands-on experience within real work situations.

You will learn from experienced staff and develop your skills in a creative and enjoyable way. You will study core units covering engineering working practices, using engineering information, Maths for technicians, and electrical and mechanical science for engineering purposes.

You also have the chance to specialise in additional areas and develop your English, maths and ICT skills, which are essential for successful performance in working life.

 

How I'll be assessed

Formal assessment is through assignments, projects, presentations and practical assessments, which are set at regular intervals throughout the course.

 

Entry Requirements

Four GCSE grades D in English language, maths and science or achievement on a Level 1 course. You will be interviewed and must demonstrate self-motivation.
