This is a weekly allowance to help you with the costs of college. It is available if you are:
- A young person in local authority care
- A Care leaver
- You receive Income Support or Universal Credit because you financially supporting yourself and anyone who is dependent on you and living with them, such as a child or a partner.
- You receive Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence Payments, plus Employment and Support Allowance or Universal Credit in your own right.
The bursary is paid pro-rata for part-time courses.
Eligible students may receive the full amount of £1,200 if they have expenses and study full-time on a programme of at least 30 weeks. You will receive less, or no bursary support, if your course is shorter than 30 weeks; you study part-time; incur few expenses; or if your Bursary fund application was received later in the academic year.
Payments are made every week provided you have attended for 92% of the lessons during the previous two weeks and adhered to the college Code of Conduct.
