BTECs

If you know what industry you want to work in but aren’t sure of the role, a BTEC could be for you. BTECs are career-based qualifications, designed to give students the skills they need for higher education or to get into work.

BTEC courses are full time and relate to industry sectors, such as hair and beauty, media or engineering. Each one is made up of a number of modules, which are usually assessed through assignments and tests.

Level 3 BTEC diplomas normally last one to two years and are the equivalent of three A-levels – so you can apply for university study.

How it works

Most of our courses run in the evenings – with most students coming in after work, for three hours one evening a week, carrying out reading and assignments in their spare time.

Why Activate Learning?

We know that employers expect good numeracy and literacy skills, so we’ve built English and maths skills training into all of our professional qualification courses. If you don’t already hold a GCSE grade C in English and Maths you can study it for free.

What’s more, we work with employers and universities to organise our vocational subjects into clusters and career pathways. These are combinations of subjects and courses that we know will help accelerate your career progression across key industries including engineering, construction and computing.

New qualifications are worth the investment but can be difficult to pay for. Activate Learning can help, by offering you advice about funding options such as the Advanced Learner Loan and college bursaries.
