Looking to start college this September? Book an appointment for an advice session today!

What is IAG and who is it for?

Whether you're undecided about your future, or your exam results have turned out differently to how you'd expected (for better or worse, it does happen!), it's not too late to come and speak to us about your future.

Our Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) sessions make joining us this September easy!

Our official admissions may have closed, but these short advice sessions can help you get a place on a course in time for September.

Virtual and on campus sessions available

At Activate Learning we take the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff seriously. Due to this, new for this year we will be offering virtual IAG appointments across our colleges.

About our virtual appointments

  • Available for those prospective learners who have access to the internet and a phone/tablet/computer
  • Appointments carried out on Microsoft Teams
  • 30 minutes long
  • Sessions available across all colleges and course areas

We recognise that not all prospective learners have access to the internet or digital devices at home. We will therefore be offering a limited number of on campus appointments for those who need it most.

What you need to bring

We can offer you a place on a study programme on the day, so please ensure you have these things to hand to avoid disappointment:

  • Evidence of your qualifications/grades
  • A form of ID, which can include: Passport, Birth Certificate, another form of ID card or national identification
  • Visa (if you are not a UK passport holder)

If you speak to us on a virtual appointment, as soon as we confirm your place we will send you a virtual enrolment form, which you can complete online and then scan and upload these documents alongside it.

If you come in to college to speak to us, please bring these documents with you on the day and you will be able to complete your entire enrolment while you are with us.

At your session, you can also apply for financial support if you are eligible. Also, if you are 19 or over, you may be able to claim back your fees. To apply and be assessed, please bring evidence of state benefits or payslips or P60 dated within the last three months.

How to prepare for your appointment

Follow our top tips to make sure you make the most of your visit.

  • If you have a virtual appointment, you can download Microsoft Teams on your computer or the app on your phone or tablet. But don't worry if you can't do this in advance as you will receive an appointment email with the quick link to join the call.
  • Have a look at our prospectus, online course search and apprenticeship vacancies to see what programmes and subject areas are available to you.
  • Shortlist the areas that you are most interested in and best suit your career goals.
  • Prepare a few questions to ask the team, for example: What modules will I study? What future job could I get? What facilities or resources will I have access to on the course? How will I be assessed?
  • Smile and be yourself!
