Our ESOL courses are for people whose first language is not English. ESOL will give you the skills you need to help you settle into life and work in the UK.

Our ESOL courses are for people whose first language is not English.   ESOL will give you the skills you need to help you settle into life and work in the UK.  

You will study all aspects of the English language including speaking and listening, reading and writing, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.  

You can study in the day time or evening.

Our career pathways show you a typical route through the various stages of learning, what you will learn along the way and the careers these programmes could lead onto.

What I'll learn

The course will help you with:

• Talking to doctors, teachers or shop assistants

• Applying for jobs

• Filling in forms

• Helping your children with their homework

• Making telephone calls

• Taking part in conversations

 

How I'll learn

You will study all aspects of the English language including speaking and listening, reading and writing, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. You can study in the day time or evening.

Depending on your start date and level, you will take exams to test your speaking, listening, reading or writing. (Please note that these are NOT international exams and are not  recognised in other countries.)

We offer courses at Entry Level 1 to Level 2. More information will be given when you come to your assessment.

 

How I'll be assessed

You will need to come along for an assessment to make sure we refer you to the right class for your level of English.

Entry Requirements

When you come to the college, you will be asked to prove your residency status. Please bring along your passport, EU ID card or Visa (if you entered the UK from outside the EU). If you entered the UK to join a spouse or relative, you will also need to bring along your spouse’s/relative’s passport. Please bring along any proof of any benefits, such as JSA or ESA, if relevant to you. You may not need to pay fees.
