Take your first steps towards a fantastic career in travel with the Diploma in Travel and Tourism.

This course prepares you for a range of travel-related careers with a big focus on working with people and customers.

What I'll learn

The twelve units offer a specialist qualification that focus on particular aspects of employment within the travel and tourism sector:

  • the UK travel and tourism sector
  • understanding customer service in travel and tourism
  • developing customer service skills in travel and tourism
  • understanding the nature and effects of world travel
  • UK tourism destinations
  • European holiday destinations
  • worldwide holiday destinations
  • exploring marketing in travel and tourism (double unit)
  • preparing for employment in travel and tourism
  • developing employability skills for travel and tourism
  • residential study visit for travel and tourism

You also complete:
NCFE Level 2 Certificate for Resort Representatives: the resort representative has an important role in representing the tour operator and ensuring the success of clients’ holidays. This qualification provides the skills knowledge and understanding required to carry out the role of a resort representative.

Functional Skills: you get the chance to gain useful transferable skills in communication application of number and ICT

Welcome Host Award in Customer Service: customer service is very important in any industry but especially travel and tourism. With this award you identify and demonstrate skills which promote excellent customer service.


How I'll learn

As well as tutorials and assignments you take part in residential trips and visits to travel and tourism organisations.


How I'll be assessed

There are no exams on this course. All 12 Level 2 diploma units are assessed by completion of assignments which you produce throughout the year. You also do various activities and role-plays under observation.

The Level 2 Certificate for Resort Representatives is assessed by the completion of work throughout the year. This builds a portfolio of evidence.


Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs grade 3 (D) or above in English and maths or transfer in from a Foundation Level 1.
