The Ascentis Level 3 Award in Education and Training is an introductory teaching qualification. The award is appropriate for teachers, tutors and trainers who may be working within an FE college, Adult and Community Learning Centre or Learning Provider and for those delivering work based training such as within voluntary, community, private and public organisations.

The award gives you an introduction to teaching and training, it explores roles and responsibilities associated with the teaching/ training role in line with our unique learning philosophy.

You will examine how to plan and deliver sessions to engage and motivate learners and establishing ground rules within a learning environment. You will also explore different assessment methods and the need for record keeping.

Our career pathways show you a typical route through the various stages of learning, what you will learn along the way and the careers these programmes could lead onto.

What I'll learn

You will learn a range of topics, including:

  • Roles, responsibilities and relationships of teachers and trainers in education and training
  • Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training.
  • Understanding assessment in education and training.
  • Micro teaching for 15 minutes


How I'll learn

You will learn both in the classroom and online, with access to excellent learning materials, as well as local classroom tuition and support.


Entry Requirements

To apply for this course, you need A to C or equivalent in English Language GCSE or higher, A to C or equivalent in Maths GCSE or higher, a Level 3 qualification or higher and/ or relevant industry experience in the subject specialism you wish to teach or train.

You will need to attend an interview and induction session prior to the start of the course.
