This one-day workshop is suitable for people who have some knowledge and experience of studio flash photography and want to explore the use of more creative modifiers and techniques.
Working with models you will learn the constraints around using coloured gels and optical snoots with gobos. In addition, a number of long exposure techniques will be explored.
What I'll learn
After a brief discussion and demo. Practical sessions will be facilitated to allow experimentation with the techniques shown. Most of the day will be spent photographing people in the studio using gels, gobos and other related techniques.
You will learn:
- Basic colour theory
- Safe studio practice
- How to set up coloured gelled lighting for background lights, accent lighting and key lighting.
- Camera settings for gobo set-ups and long exposure examples
How I'll learn
You will learn during practical sessions to allow experiements.
Bring cameras that have different shooting modes (including Manual mode) and preferably interchangeable lenses. A hot-shoe connection for flash triggers will be needed.
