If you are interested in pursuing a career in the creative industries, currently work in the creative industries and want to refresh or improve your photographic skills or simply have an interest in photography, then this is the course for you.

This University of the Arts London (UAL) qualification will allow you to develop your understanding of photography through practice-based workshops. You will be introduced to the basic uses, functions, principles and skills in using a film based and digital camera as well as building your own camera and exploring other camera-less photographic techniques in both the digital darkroom as well as a black and white wet darkroom.

What I'll learn

This course is an introduction to photography and its principles. From lens-less photography and processing, camera film photography and processing through to digital techniques.


How I'll learn

You will gain from this course a UAL Level 2 Award in Photography. 

Group A (mandatory unit):
The camera: Film or Digital
Group B:
The Photographic Project.

This course will also allow you to go on to another intermediate or specialised course to develop and diversify your skill base.


How I'll be assessed

Please bring a notepad or sketchbook, pen, DLSR or camera with manual modes, instruction manual. 
We will supply a film based SLR camera but you will need to purchase camera film and black and white paper, chemicals and digital printing via a small material fee.



Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. All you will need is an enthusiasm for photography!
