Games development is still a fast growing industry and new people are required all the time. Students will be able to prepare for a rewarding, challenging career in the computer games industry. It gives you industry-relevant skills and you learn using software that replicates what you’d find in a working studio. You will learn all about the world of games development and what employers require from anyone starting new in this line of business.

You will be working in project teams and you will be asked to pitch an idea to a panel of people that give you feedback. A major project on the course will be the production of an animation that could be used for a games concept. Sessions are underpinned with the relevant theoretical teaching which makes you an independent learner.

Guest speakers and industry visits give you relevant knowledge and the software and teaching is industry-relevant and up-to-date.

The course is mainly practical, with some theoretical assignments. The assessment for the main programme is through modular-based assignments. Students will be taught by means of projects, assessment will include exams, and internally assessed project work.

You need to have 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above including English and maths, with a keen interest and evidence in the subject (example of work).
