On the Diploma in Gaming and Animation you cover areas such as media research techniques, introduction to the media and gaming industries animation, digital graphics and computer game design.
Our career pathways show you a typical route through the various stages of learning, what you will learn along the way and the careers these programmes could lead onto.
Get a broad knowledge base so you can work in the media and gaming industry or progress to a higher-level course. You will cover areas such as media research techniques, introduction to the media and gaming industries animation, digital graphics and computer game design.
You will work on a variety of different projects delivered through a combination of practical project work, specialist workshops and lectures. You will produce a a portfolio of work suitable for progression to the next level or to employment. You will also use industry-standard software to develop professional presentation skills and design techniques.
The course is 100% coursework and includes written assignments and practical sessions. You will learn by completing projects and assignments based on professional practice and realistic workplace situations. Emphasis is placed on working and learning with others and working to deadlines.All units are internally assessed by specialist tutors and assessments take place in the form of assignments set throughout the course. Grades are verified internally and externally to ensure that national standards are met.
You also need to be able to work independently be well organised and take responsibility for your own learning. Throughout the course you are also required to complete additional tasks for example design work and research on your home study days.
In addition you study functional skills in English or ICT which has a final exam.
