CIPD Human Resources Management Advanced Diploma

Print Page

The Advanced Diploma level qualification is suitable for those who have responsibility for implementing HR strategy and/or developing policy whether working as a consultant, generalist or specialist.

Regular attendance is essential and it is a CIPD requirement to cover the subjects in sufficient depth.

Students must achieve a minimum of 80% attendance.

What I'll learn

The Advanced Diploma in HRM consists of four modules:

  • Human Resources Management (HRM) in Context
  • Leading, Managing and Developing People
  • Developing Skills for Business Leadership
  • Investigating a Business Issue from an HR Perspective (Management Research Report)

How I'll learn

The taught part of the Advanced Diploma course will run over one academic year and for 8 hours per week (including tutorial time) on a Thursday afternoon/evening basis (1–8pm).

However, there will also be time for private study and work on the Management Research Report.  There will also be various methods of teaching including formal teaching, workshops and seminars.

You must also commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week in addition to the time spent at college for self-directed study and completion of directed activities, not including the management research report.

How I'll be assessed

HRM in Context and Leading, Managing and Developing People modules attract a CIPD 3-hour external set examination. Examinations are held in January, May and September of each year.

You will also be required to complete a Management Research Report on a work-based subject during the module investigating a Business Issue from an HR Perspective. The deadline for submission of this report is September 2020. You should note that if you do not submit in line with that deadline you will be required to re-enrol for that module for 2010-2021.

Entry Requirements

Satisfactory completion of Year 1 (the Advanced Certificate in Human Resource Management).
