This qualification is for those aspiring to become effective HR practitioners, whether working as managers or consultants in generalist or specialist roles.

Set at a postgraduate level, the CIPD Advanced Certificate level qualification will develop your understanding of organisations and the changing external context within which HR operates.

Regular attendance is essential and it is a CIPD requirement to cover the subjects in sufficient depth. Students must achieve a minimum of 80% attendance.

What I'll learn

You will need to complete and pass the following four modules over the 33-week period to gain the qualification;

  • Resourcing and Talent Management
  • Performance Management
  • Managing Employment Relations
  • Employment Law

 

How I'll learn

The course runs over 35 weeks and the expectation is that students will be in college for 8 hours per week on a Thursday afternoon/evening 13:00–21:00.  There will be various methods of teaching including formal teaching, workshops, seminars and online activities.

It is also the expectation that as a student on this course, you will commit a minimum of 10 hours per week in addition to the time spent at college for self-directed study and completion of formative assessments given by the tutors.

 

How I'll be assessed

Each module is assessed by written assessment together with other more practical formative assessments and preparation of a portfolio of work.

 

Entry Requirements

In general, all applicants should be in possession of a first degree in a related subject. 

However, those who have not had the opportunity to study at this level but have a broad experience of HR at as senior/strategic are considered.  All applicants are required to complete the enrolment form and an interview.

Progression on to the Advanced Diploma is not automatic but is contingent upon satisfactory completion of Year 1.
