This Girl Takes on IKEA! Join us for Furniture, Feminism and Fun!

This one day hands-on workshop is open to all who identify as women.

You will have your chance to have a go at designing with wood by making your very own creation. During this Saturday Class you will create a series of wooden objects/ pieces repurposed from existing IKEA furniture. The outcomes will be exhibited as part of a small exhibition at the end of the session to friends and family, offering an opportunity to discuss what you have learnt and taken from the experience

You will be presented with a random selection of components from IKEA Designs which you will choose to reinterpret in experimental, conception or functional ways.

You will get to take home your own furniture design following the session.

All tools and materials will be provided.

This event is hosted by Harriet Speed, founder of This Girls Makes.

The class will last six hours, including a 30-minute refreshment break. There's an additional 30 minutes following the session for a small exhibition/social. Family and friends are invited to attend to view workshop outcomes.

After this course, you may wish to join our National Saturday Club Furniture (12–16 year olds) or Woodwork L4L courses for adults!
