This programme helps to develop your teamwork skills and personal fitness. You will do practical lessons relating to map reading and outdoor activities, sports, and first aid.

You will study the purpose, role and responsibilities of our uniformed public services and test your teamwork skills in the fitness, outdoor and adventurous skills modules.

This course provides the knowledge and understanding to enable students to take up effective employment in the area of uniformed public services. It also provides the start of a route into higher education courses.
Visits and trips are an integral part of the course and carry an additional cost payable when you start.
The course is based on continual assessment with workbooks and the teaching team will engage your leaning in many different ways. Types of learning activities will consist of group work, practical activities, putting learning into practice and visits. Visits are also made by uniformed public personnel to offer first-hand experiences.
Being at college helped me get a work experience placement with local firm Whitley Stimpson. After two weeks’ work experience, they approached me to provide some paid work."
You need a basic level of literacy and numeracy to apply for this course.
The commitment to work towards improving English and maths is required for this programme. Both Functional skills and GCSE re-sits are offered.
