How I'll learn

Foundation - Tier 4
This programme is for learners who have been disengaged from learning or underachieving, and who want to try different vocational options.

Learners will develop vocational and employability skills, including English and maths, digital literacy and citizenship learning. Work experience is also part of this programme.

Foundation - Tier 5
This programme is for learners who need to develop their personal and social skills to achieve success. Learners will also take part in an introduction to a chosen vocational area at Level 1.

The programme includes personal and social development, employability skills, work experience, English and maths, digital literacy and citizenship.

How I'll be assessed

You will be assessed through creating a folder of evidence for each subject. You will be assessed at a level that suits you. Functional skills and GCSE maths and English will be assessed through external examinations.

You will gain a Vocational Certificate in Learning, Employability and Progression on completion of your studies.

On successful completion of the course, you may move on to a full-time Level 2 course, an apprenticeship or employment.

Entry Requirements

You do not need qualifications to join these pathways. However, you will need a successful interview with a member of the teaching team to show your commitment to full time study and your interest in the subject.

You need a basic level of literacy and numeracy to apply for this course. The commitment to work towards improving English and maths is required for this programme. Both Functional skill and GCSE re-sits are offered. We will also expect a satisfactory school report.

As part of your interview we will assess your levels of English and maths and advise you of the most appropriate level to study.
