Foundation Pathway: IT and Computing Level 1

This pathway is for those who want to explore a career in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) through a full-time college programme and would benefit from high-level support with English, maths and personal development.

Pursue a career in ICT on a foundation programme that gives you an opportunity to develop the essential practical skills and knowledge you’ll need for working in this industry. 

What I'll learn

When you complete this course you will receive:

  • Vocational Certificate in Learning, Employability and Progression
  • GCSEs or Functional skills in English and Maths

This course will also give you essential employability skills to help you look for employment.

From this pathway you can move on to a Level 2 IT course or another Level 2 course in a related area.

 

How I'll learn

You will take part in interactive and fun activities to develop your skills ina supoprtive and collaborative classroom.

 

How I'll be assessed

You will be assessed through creating a folder of evidence for each subject. You will be assessed at a level that suits you. Functional skills and GCSE maths and English will be assessed through external examinations.

 

Entry Requirements

You do not need qualifications to join these pathways. However, you will need a successful interview with a member of the teaching team to show your commitment to full time study and your interest in the subject. 

You need a basic level of literacy and numeracy to apply for this course. The commitment to work towards improving English and maths is required for this programme. Both Functional skill and GCSE re-sits are offered. We will also expect a satisfactory school report. 

As part of your interview we will assess your levels of English and maths and advise you of the most appropriate level to study.
