Make a start on a hairdressing career and learn how to provide popular styles and treatments.

Our Foundation Learning Pathways are made up of a package of qualifications - including vocational subjects like bricklaying or childcare and personal and social development.

You will be given the opportunity to gain English, Maths and IT qualifications.

Our Foundation Learning pathways are designed to help you progress on to another college course, an apprenticeship or employment.

Make a start on a career in hair and beauty as you learn the skills needed to progress. 

What I'll learn

On the Foundation Hair and Beauty pathway you will learn abour styling, dressing, shampooing, conditioning and colouring, among other skills. 


How I'll learn

You will take part in interactive and fun activities to develop your skills in hair and beauty. You will receive lots of support and advice before and during the programme.


How I'll be assessed

You will be assessed through creating a folder of evidence for each subject. You will be assessed at a level that suits you. Functional skills and GCSE maths and English will be assessed through external examinations.

You will gain a Vocational Certificate in Learning, Employability and Progression on completion of your studies.

On successful completion of the course, you may move on to a full-time Level 2 course, an apprenticeship or employment.



Entry Requirements

You do not need qualifications to join these pathways. However, you will need a successful interview with a member of the teaching team to show your commitment to full time study and your interest in the subject. 

You need a basic level of literacy and numeracy to apply for this course. The commitment to work towards improving English and maths is required for this programme. Both Functional skill and GCSE re-sits are offered. We will also expect a satisfactory school report. 

As part of your interview we will assess your levels of English and maths and advise you of the most appropriate level to study.
