What I'll learn
The pathway gives you an introduction to the Hospitality and Catering industry. You learn basic cooking methods such as baking, frying and grilling.
You will develop good knowledge in basic food preparation, cooking, food safety and storage and serving food and drink. You develop essential employability skills and hygienic working practices and will perfect the art of preparing fresh modern and classic dishes.
You also gain wider personal development skills vital for success in further study or employment. They include self-confidence, working with others, taking responsibility and time management. By the end of the course you will have benefited from a valuable insight in future study or careers open to you.
How I'll learn
You will take part in interactive and fun activities to develop your skills in hospitality and catering
How I'll be assessed
You will be assessed through creating a folder of evidence for each subject. You will be assessed at a level that suits you. Functional skills and GCSE maths and English will be assessed through external examinations.
You will gain a Vocational Certificate in Learning, Employability and Progression on completion of your studies.
On successful completion of the course, you may move on to a full-time Level 2 course, an apprenticeship or employment.
