The Foundation ESOL Pathway is a year-long programme; however, you will be able to join the course at a later date if there are places available.
You can progress to next level of ESOL and maths or to vocational courses in the college. We can give you advice and information to help you plan your next step, whether you would like to study another course in the college or somewhere else, or are looking to enter employment.
Our career pathways show you a typical route through the various stages of learning, what you will learn along the way and the careers these programmes could lead onto.

You will learn the following on the Foundation ESOL Pathway:
You will study up to 20 hours a week, including self-directed study in the Learning Zone. You will participate in plenty of exciting employability and enrichment activities, such as educational trips.
As a student of City of Oxford College, you will receive outstanding care, guidance and support as well as access to our excellent leisure and learning facilities: Lifestyle Centre, Library and Learning Centres and the College Virtual Learning Environment, Moodle.
You are assessed by practical and job knowledge assessment on the different units of the course.
You will gain a UK English and maths Qualification. You will also improve the wider skills vital for success in further study or employment, including self-confidence, speaking in front of others, working with others, taking responsibility and managing your time.
Chad has developed his employability skills through a work experience placement at a community centre, preparing and cooking food. He has been offered paid employment.
You need to be aged 18 or under on 31 August 2018. This course is for students who do not have English as a first language. You need to make a commitment to attend full-time.
You do not need qualifications to join these pathways. However, you will need a successful interview with a member of the teaching team to show your commitment to full time study and your interest in the subject.
As part of your interview we will assess your levels of English and maths and advise you of the most appropriate level to study.
To register your interest and contact the Foundation Learning team, you do not need to complete the full college application form. Please complete the short form here.
