Pattern Cut and Make Your Own Skirt Design

These exciting Summer Saturdays open the door to those of you who would like to create your own unique skirt design based on previous knowledge on how to pattern cut a basic skirt studied in series one Introduction to Basic Pattern Cutting.

This course gives you the opportunity to design and develop your pattern cutting skills further along with advanced garment construction. 
You will learn the technical skills needed to create patterns and garment construction, guided and supported by our very experienced, industry trained lecturer.

What I'll learn

During this full two day course you will learn the fundamentals of pattern cutting a skirt design. You will explore how to create a pattern for your own skirt design. You will be taught the importance of experimenting with dart manipulation using basic blocks.  You will also be supported when using a domestic sewing machine and shown how to sew basic seams, darts, attaching facings to waistlines and inserting zips.


How I'll learn

You will gain: extended techniques for womenswear pattern cutting, knowledge on garment construction using a domestic sewing machine, skill in selecting suitable fabrics,
exploring the importance of grainlines in fabric and an understanding on how to cut out a skirt design correctly on fabric.


How I'll be assessed

There are no formal assessments on this course. However, we do expect primary knowledge of basic pattern cutting and also using a domestic sewing machine.


Entry Requirements

There are no formal requirements for this course, but you be expected to bring a notebook, folder with clear plastic sleeves, fabric scissors, measuring tape, material/ fabric for your project, zip and pins.
