Whatever your level, come and practise making jewellery to your own designs, whether you are picking up the basics of cutting, experiment with new techniques such as stone setting, fold forming and forging.

Complete beginners will learn how to make a sterling silver ring, and will build skills and techniques upon this project.

Re-enrol to further develop your skills!

NB: The course will not run during half term.

What I'll learn

This practical course will guide you in crafting metal jewellery to your own designs.
Beginners will learn traditional jewellery making techniques, which include:

  • Ring sizing, cutting, filing, shaping, soldering and polishing
  • Specialist techniques such as sawing, filing, soldering, forging and texturing, cleaning and polishing
  • Knowledge in safe working practices and a skill-set of traditional jewellery making techniques which can be applied to future projects.

Intermediate and advanced students can work to their own designs learning any new skills along the way fundamental to these.

How I'll learn

Teaching/learning methods are through practical demonstrations and student activities; you learn by doing, and by practising the processes on an individual basis at your own pace.

Entry Requirements

Some experience of jewellery and metals would be useful but not essential as you work at your own pace and level.

Please bring a notebook and pencil for jotting ring sizes etc.
