On this practical course you will explore, experiment, make sketches and develop hand-made illustrations for your personal projects.
You will learn how to communicate ideas effectively through a series of proposed techniques in combination of your preferred one.
The course is aimed at learners with some experience, who have some art and design background or are a practicing illustrator.

What I'll learn
By the end of the course you will have an insight into how to develop or further develop your style, and how to successfully create illustrations to deliver an accurate and complete message.
You will be able to; understand the characteristics of style; recognise the skills to further your illustration style; effectively communicate an idea by using the visual language resources; create illustration work to expand your portfolio.
How I'll learn
The course will combine demonstration, workshop tasks, group discussion and critique, and individual tuition from a professional illustrator.
You will explore the relationship between text and image and will examine different approaches and styles of illustration.
Through experimentation, you will learn how to tackle developing, or further developing a style.
How I'll be assessed
There are no formal assessments for this course.
The course fee covers basic drawing materials. It would be very useful for you to bring the following: a sketchbook of your choice or your personal drawing notebook and your preferred drawing equipment to develop your style in this field.
You should bring any previous illustration projects (sketches, drawings, on-going work etc.) as a way in to start.
