Glass: Encounters with Colour and Light

Come and join us in this adventure, exploring the qualities of colour in transparent and opaque glass from 2 dimensional fused glass to small 3d cast pieces.

You will explore the subtleties of colour and texture combinations and the changes that occur through the refraction of light.

What I'll learn

You will learn about colour theory and basic design techniques, knowledge of different types of glass and their qualities, when and how to use them.

You will learn glass techniques such as fusing, slumping, addition of colour and image and glass cutting techniques.


How I'll learn

You will gain practical skills leading to the production of a range of samples and one or more final pieces. Glass will be provided for an initial 5 samples, then you will need to purchase the glass you would like to use from: Reading Stained Glass 213 London Road READING RG1 3NY. Website:


How I'll be assessed

This is a learning for leisure course, with no formal assessments. 


Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements. Please bring an A4 sketchbook, a packet of colour pencils and a waterproof black pen.
