This course will give you an introduction to a variety of construction trades, you will gain skills in those areas and it will help you decide which trade is the right one for you.
This Construction Level 1 study programme at Bracknell and Wokingham College will give you an introduction to a variety of construction trades and a basic grounding in a variety of skills.
You will gain skills in specific trade areas, and this will help you decide which trade is the right one for you and your future career. The following construction trades are covered within the programme:
- Carpentry and joinery
- Construction operations
Upon successful completion of this programme, you can progress on to the Construction Level 2 programme at Bracknell and Wokingham College, or another vocational study programme or apprenticeship within your chosen trade.
What I'll learn
You'll learn basic construction skills and knowledge and undertake various practical and knowledge-based activities.
How I'll learn
Practical sessions take place in fully equipped workshops supported by theoretical sessions to provide foundation knowledge and understanding.
How I'll be assessed
You'll be assessed through practical projects and written assignments.
No experience or qualifications are required although every applicant will attend an interview.
Places are limited and it is advisable to apply as early as possible.
We will apply for a reference from a recent school, another college or work place and this reference must be satisfactory.
If you do not have a grade C/4 in GCSE English language and maths you will be required to be working towards achieving this alongside your course.
