This Construction Level 1 study programme at Bracknell and Wokingham College will give you an introduction to a variety of construction trades and a basic grounding in a variety of skills.
You will gain skills in specific trade areas, and this will help you decide which trade is the right one for you and your future career.
You can progress on to the Construction Level 2 programme at Bracknell and Wokingham College, another vocational study programme, or apprenticeship within your chosen trade.
All 16–19 year olds on full-time programmes will be required to retake GCSE English and maths—or to undertake Functional Skills—if they have not already attained the equivalent of a GCSE grade 4 (C) in these subjects, every year of their course, until they complete their studies.

You will get the opportunity to develop skills from a range of different areas, such as:

- electrical
- painting and decorating
You will also learn about core subject areas, such as health and safety, and working and communicating effectively in the construction trades.
How you'll learn and be assessed
Practical sessions take place in fully equipped workshops supported by theoretical sessions to provide foundation knowledge and understanding.
You’ll be assessed through practical projects and written assignments.
Progression
Upon successful completion of this course, you could progress to Level 2 studies in Carpentry, Bricklaying, Plumbing, Electrical, or begin an apprenticeship.
Entry requirements
You need to have a minimum of 3 GCSEs at grade 2 including Maths and English language
