Areas studied include:
You learn about the care of children play and practical activities growth and development food and nutrition and health and safety.
You will develop your basic skills in childcare, education and play work and gain direct experience of working in an early years setting.
The qualification will be pass or refer and all the assessment criteria for the chosen units must be achieved in order to obtain a pass. The course has approximately 13 hours teacher contact time per week, spread over 3 days.
Assessment is through assignment work. You learn through classroom-based activities practical workshops and a 15-day supervised practical work placement in a childcare setting in the final term.
The course also gives you the opportunity to improve your literacy numeracy and ICT skills.
