Ceramics - Throwing on the Wheel

With expert tuition, this fun one day course is designed for beginners to explore learning a new skill working on the wheel to create a range of objects including cylinders and bowls.

In addition you will apply colour and decoration to your pieces using decorating slip.

 

Our career pathways show you a typical route through the various stages of learning, what you will learn along the way and the careers these programmes could lead onto.

What I'll learn

Clay preparation (kneading and wedging).
Centering the clay.
Throwing a range of forms.
Throwing using Earthstone clay.
Preparation and application of decorating slip.
How to apply Health and Safety guidelines in the Ceramics studio.

 

How I'll learn

Discussion. Individual tuition. Practical demonstration. Practical experience.
 

 

How I'll be assessed

There is no formal assessment for this course.

 

Entry Requirements

No previous experience required. Students are advised to bring a packed lunch.  There will be a 30 minute break at approximately 12.30pm. 

PLEASE NOTE: This course is not suitable for people with mobility issues or serious back problems.
