Our career pathways show you a typical route through the various stages of learning, what you will learn along the way and the careers these programmes could lead onto.

What I'll learn

The Junior Chefs' Academy is for young adults in Years 9, 10 and 11. If you are interested in a career in catering, or if you are just keen to learn how to cook healthy, great-tasting food, then come along to our hands-on, fun classes at our high-spec Reading campus!

 

 

How I'll learn

Each course covers:

  • Basic culinary techniques and presentation of food
  • Specialist dishes of the world
  • Bakery skills
  • Hygiene
  • Basic nutrition
  • Teamwork and organisation

 

How I'll be assessed

There are no formal assessments for this course. 

 

Entry Requirements

All you'll need is a willingness to learn! 

 

How to Apply

Each course lasts for 6 weeks, and is delivered on Friday evening at 4:30am to 7:30pm.
Each 6-week block costs £75.

As part of your application, you will be asked to provide us with your contact details, how your chosen programme fits with your future plans and if you require any extra support (for example because of a disability, medical condition, learning or language support needs).
