Next Steps – Textured glazes is a follow-on from the Introduction to Textured glazes.

You will learn about the different types of textured glazes (for example, volcanic), how textured glazes differ from standard glazes, and when they can be used to best effect.

This is a practical course where you will have the opportunity to mix up glazes, adapt and test them in small groups. You will learn the chemistry behind the different textured glazes, the best methods of application and how to correct textured glaze faults

On completion of this course students can enrol onto alternative glaze making courses, or one of our popular Ceramics For All classes.

What I'll learn

You will be learning more about the chemistry that causes textured glazes and how to harness the characteristics of the chemical to get the best from established recipes, adapting recipes and devising your own.

You will also study how to correct the most common glaze faults.

How I'll learn

Teaching techniques will include short talks, Q&A, group discussion, demonstrations and group practicals. Students can access articles and other information through emails and other digital methods.

There may be some additional reading / research necessary at home.
