This nationally-recognised award in beauty therapy will enable you to become a fully operational therapist in a salon, without supervision.

You will learn in our purpose-built salon, which is fully equipped to industry standards.

What I'll learn

The course covers the following areas:

  • body massage
  • Indian head massage
  • stone therapy massage with pre-blended oils
  • aromatherapy
  • G5 and audio sonic
  • anatomy and physiology.

You'll also study professional employment development, health and safety, selling techniques and functional skills.


How I'll learn

You'll learn through:

  • discussions
  • expert demonstrations by experienced beauty practitioners
  •  practical activities in our industry-standard facilities 

Our salon facilities are open to the public and are run like a professional salon so you'll have the opportunity to practice your skills on customers and gain work experience in the industry.

You'll also develop your hairdressing skills during a work placement at a salon in the local area.


How I'll be assessed

You will be assessed continually throughout the year.

This will include:

  • oral and written exams
  • practical assessments
  • written assignments
  • case studies
  • a portfolio of evidence and work.

A minimum of 85% attendance is required by the Examining Board and the college for successful completion of the qualification.


Entry Requirements

Five or more GCSEs at grades 4–9 (A*-C) including English and maths, or a Level 2 Award.

Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an internal assessment.

All students will have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.
