This course is designed to enable you to experiment and explore across a range of printmaking techniques with support and advice from our experienced print tutor.
The advanced course covers etching and builds upon your skills and techniques of monoprints, collagraphs and lino printing with the opportunity to experiment and produce work in the process/processes of your choice.
You will build on your skills of print planning, plate making, printing methods, inks, paper, using a print press, using specialist equipment and professional practice in the print room.
What I'll learn
You will have the time to explore and experiment with the materials and methods and find or develop your own style of working. A friendly and supportive setting will allow you to share your ideas and progress with your peers through group discussions and critiques.
How I'll learn
You will build on your understanding of the processes used by printmakers in the production of their work and use your knowledge and confidence to plan and develop your own printmaking projects. By the end of this course you will have a good understanding of how to apply different techniques, some of which may be practiced at home.
This course does require some knowledge, although this is a fully guided course and you will be supported by our tutor throughout.
As you will be aware, printmaking is messy and although aprons and protective gloves are provided it is sensible to wear old clothes as the ink will stain clothing permanently once dry. High heels and open-toed sandals are not allowed, please wear something low that covers and protects the whole foot. Please do not wear any dangling jewellery.
Sketchbooks or drawings which can be used as the starting point for ideas and printed works should be brought along if you have them.
