Explore a range of approaches to develop your creative potential in painting.

This course is ideal for enthusiastic beginners and experienced painters alike! You’ll be encouraged to experiment with new techniques and materials to develop your skills.

Basic materials are included with the course costs.

What I'll learn

Throughout the course you will be introduced to a variety of painting techniques.

You will also be introduced to a variety of painting materials that will include:

  • watercolour
  • ink
  • acrylic
  • oil paints

We’ll also look at artists papers, boards and canvases and brushes.

Each week we’ll look at the work of various artists and the techniques they use that will inspire and encourage your development.

The course will introduce you to the following themes:

  • Landscapes
  • Portraits
  • Mixed Media
  • Abstract
  • Monochrome
  • Colour

The aim of this course is to help you discover and develop your creativity!


How I'll learn

Throughout the course, you will be helped to achieve your creative goals and our fun classes will build your confidence and increase your painting skills.

Classes will include demonstrations by your tutor. You’ll then have the chance to experiment with a variety of materials.

By looking at the work of various artists you will be encouraged to develop your own skills. You will be encouraged to work on subjects that interest you using your own reference material.

Group discussions and assessments will help you develop your ideas.


Entry Requirements

Basic materials to be used during the classes will be provided.

They include:  

  • brushes
  • acrylic paint (primary colours)
  • drawing materials
  • paper
  • ink
  • water colours
