This course is suitable for anyone wanting to learn the basics of watercolour painting.

This course is suitable for anyone wanting to learn the basics of watercolour painting.  Projects will be set that are suitable for both beginners new to watercolour painting and those with some watercolour experience.  You will be supported through demonstration and instruction by an experienced tutor.
 

What I'll learn

  • Develop an understanding of the characteristics of watercolour, paint, paper and brushes.
  • Learn to apply basic washes.
  • Learn wet into wet techniques.
  • Work from a limited palette of 8 colours and develop colour mixing skills.
  • Learn some resist techniques.
  • Start to be able to plan and produce a watercolour painting.
  • Work from photographic and still life starting points.
  • Topics may include landscape, still life, plants and animals.

 

How I'll learn

Discussion.  Formal instruction.  Individual tuition.  Practical demonstration.  Practical experience.
 

 

Entry Requirements

Basic drawing skills would be useful but not essential.
