If you don’t have enough GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above to study on a Level 3 course, this pathway is for you.
This full-time course is designed to support students retaking GCSEs, and comprises of the following GCSEs:
- English language
- English literature
What I'll learn
During the course we will prepare you with the relevant study skills and attributes to ensure you are ready to progress to A Levels, or other Level 3 qualifications, for example BTEC Extended Diplomas, with the aim of progressing to university or employment/an apprenticeship.
How I'll learn
You will study using a range of techniques including:
- group work
- independent study
- practical activities
We expect our students to be fully committed to their studies and attend all timetabled lessons, talks, tutorials and workshops. You will also have a weekly tutorial.
In addition, students can expect to attend trips and visits according to the needs of the individual subjects.
How I'll be assessed
This GCSE is assessed by coursework and a final exam.
Four GCSE Grade 3 (D or above), including GCSE English Language and Maths.
If you do not have these qualifications an English and Maths assessment can be organised at 1 hour each.
This is a very intensive course and successful candidates are required to have a basic knowledge of science and maths.
