What I'll learn

During this programme, you can expect to develop your knowledge and understanding of the following areas:

  • the principles of computer science, including abstraction, decomposition, logic, algorithms and data representation
  • how to analyse problems in computational terms through practical experience of solving such problems 
  • creative, analytical, logical and critical thinking
  • mathematical skills, such as Boolean algebra, algorithms and number representations and bases.
  • the ability to articulate the ethical, legal and cultural risks and opportunities surrounding existing and emerging digital technologies. 

 

How I'll learn

In and out of class, you can expect to work independently as well as collaboratively; using tech resources to engage with learning. 

 

How I'll be assessed

Formal assessment is through examinations and coursework.

The examination periods are in May/ June.

There will be a range of regular assignments and class-based assessments to help you develop your study skills for the next educational step.

Individual learning targets are set each term and you will receive regular feedback on your progress in meeting these targets.

 

Entry Requirements

Minimum of six GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above including English Language and Maths but excluding PE, dance, catering, or other subjects with a large practical component.
