As a professional rugby player, Justin finds managing his time can be quite difficult.
Justin chose City of Oxford College as he found the Foundation Degree in Sport Rehabilitation suited his career ambitions, whilst giving him flexibility: ‘I am due to fly over to the USA in April to partake in the inaugural season of professional rugby in the US PRO league. The college is willing to accommodate my needs, ensuring I have everything I need to succeed.’
He finds the balance of a stretching learning experience and a supportive environment a great fit for him: ‘I enjoy the challenge of my course. I find the facilities ideal, as I prefer a smaller group of people, which I think adds to the teaching, because the lecturers get to know us all individually. This allows them to look after our individual needs in regards to the course, as well as a collective.’
‘I would say to anyone thinking of doing a similar course to get your work done and out of the way. There's so much time for relaxing and hanging out with friends when you have got all your work out of the way. It takes away any pressure you have, making the whole experience more enjoyable.’
As Justin’s confidence has been boosted, he now has a clearer career path for the future: ‘When I complete my studies I plan on continuing my rugby career for as long as I can sustain it. However, with all the knowledge I should pick up from my course, I will be able to stay in the sports industry afterwards, which is a huge benefit to me, as sport has been a huge part of my life since I was 4 years old.’
